Today is International Women’s Day (8 March), "Women In Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world".  We are celebrating the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and highlights the gaps that remain.

Women’s full and effective participation and leadership in of all areas of life drives progress for everyone. Yet, women are still underrepresented in public life and decision-making.  At the current rate of progress, gender equality among Heads of Government will take another 130 years.

Women are also at the forefront of the battle against COVID-19, as front-line and health sector workers, as scientists, doctors and caregivers, yet they get paid 11% less globally than their male counterparts. An analysis of COVID-19 task teams from 87 countries found only 3.5 per cent of them had gender parity. 

Together we can make a difference and BECOME UNSTOPPABLE. I don't know about you but I don't want my girls  entering adulthood at a disadvantage to their male counterparts.  We've had too many years of this. Time to stand together and make a difference.

You may be doing all the right things; listening to guided meditations and journaling but things just still don’t feel right.  Or maybe it’s worse and you feel like lost hope and you don’t really know what direction you’re heading in.  

Know that these situations are showing you the way.  These events are here to help you make the changes my friends.  These feelings are the signals that tell you it’s time to start listening, invest your time into course correcting and get onto the right path.

We’re talking about alignment; so powerful.  When you’re in alignment you feel light and in motion.  You easily gravitate towards the people, the things you love and the stepping stones that take you closer to your big goals.  

Alignment helps build that strong believe in yourself that you can achieve.  And if you believe in yourself the world will believe in you too, because perception is reality.

What will help you feel more aligned, growing and happier?  

Can you remember a time when you let your mind wander; a time when you were just you.   No evaluating, no comparing and contrasting.  These are the moments where you set your mind free from the inner demon and find the gold dust you’re really looking for, because this is when the brain is tapping into the subconscious where your inner most thoughts and desires live.  

How do I find the gold dust I hear you cry?

👉 Go for a walk in nature and let your mind wander

👉 Spend some time with your favourite friends, the ones that make you belly laugh

👉 Listen to your favourite music, uninterrupted. Dance and move like no ones watching

👉 Take a luxurious 10 minute break in the middle of the day just for you. Lie down, close your eyes and relax. Breath deeply from deep in your tummy.  No expectations, no action, just be… feel how incredible it is when you take the pressure off yourself.

When you’re aligned you listen to your intuition. You listen less to the inner demon and you judge yourself a LOT less.  You’ll tap into new energy levels, feel more alive than ever and most importantly you’ll start to feel the connection between your head and your heart.  This is when you make good decisions that move you in the right direction. 

You can become your own iconic heroine of your own story.  Time to start thinking, dreaming about moving on from whatever is draining the live out of you and get into the right zone.  


Persevere. Do not stop.  Show up, put the work in and you will break through those barriers. And remember, celebrate the wins.  Even the small ones   💪

10 things I’ve Learnt in 2020

Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts

1. Intensive Change Illuminates Character 

As the events of this year began to unfold, I remember speaking at an online University event and I reminded the students that change, whilst it can be challenging, is really good for us.  Winston Churchill said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts… If you're going through hell, keep going.” Be ready for the challenge and be ready to push yourself out of your comfort zone.

This year has been a year of change, a tough year of pandemic, politics, quarantine from loved ones and fear. 

How we handle change the challenge reveals who we really are. To those who stayed true to your character, optimistic through the dark times, disciplined when it was easy to hide and wait, loving to family who disagreed, enthusiastic about making this year a test of what you could achieve despite the difficulties, thank you. You showed us what's possible

2. Family First 

Most of us spend between 8-12 hours in the office, and we have the tendency to treat our work relationships as they are the most important relationships.  Like yours no doubt, our family life is action packed. Like you, we love our kids and our marriage provides the foundation for everything that we’ve built together. Your family is your legacy and not only investing in raising the next generation, you’re also raising your grandchildren.

3. Health Above All Else

It’s easy to understand why we leap to convenient food that fills us up quickly, but filling up on bad food can be detrimental to your health.   The best habit I’ve formed this year has been my Sunday night food prep so everything is quick and easy to grab at lunch time and I have 2-3 healthy meals prepared for us on those nights where I’ve needed to work late.  Improving your eating habits, improves your mental health, your agility and your strength.  

How did you do during the pandemic?  Did you use that extra time you’ve gained by not commuting to work out?  Did you invest in your health to position yourself stronger and healthier in a pandemic? Whatever your answer, don’t be too hard on yourself, but do make it a goal to build some good habits that make you stronger, because if you’re not living a healthy life you’re not living a vibrant life.   

4. “Everything is Figureoutable” Marie Forleo

Confidence is the belief that you can figure things out. Did you enter each day ready to figure things out, or did you tell yourself that you can't? Your answer to that single question probably set the reality and progress of your year. 

If you really believe that you’re able to work everything out, what could you achieve? Who could you become? 

5. Pivot

Don’t wait to make that investment you’ve been thinking about.  Whether it’s taking a course, taking the first step to building your business or writing that book that’s been written several times in your own mind! 

Whilst everyone is drowning in pessimism this is when you can really make an impact.  This could be your opportunity don’t wait.

6. Friendships Really Matter

My friendships have REALLY MATTERED this year. If you’ve made friendships a priority through life (thank you Dale Carnegie), then this year will have been so much more enjoyable. Outside of the health of my family, the number one thing I'm thankful for this year is my friendships that kept me feeling like things would be okay. Love you guys.

7. Leaders Show Up

When things are tough that’s when your people need you the most.  Whether you are leading your family, a business community or a team, they need you.  

I’ve got a lot of great role models in my network who have really stepped up their visibility when the tough road began. I’ve learnt a lot from watching them and leading my organisation .  Remarkable people, the ones we remember rise, unite and serve when we most need them.

8. Deep and Lasting Fulfilment 

It’s human nature to want to feel good about our contributions in the world.  We all want to be proud of ourselves because we’re being congruent with who we know we can be. This is when you experience transformation and extend the possibilities of your life.  

If you want to have deep, caring, rich relationships with other people. If you want to create things that amplifies and turns on your mind make a promise to yourself not to wait any longer. 

If you don’t have a passion for what you are doing in life, it becomes work and it’s work it will always be a struggle.  

If you’re feel stuck, and waiting for someone or something to push you to the next thing you’re in for a long wait. It’s unlikely someone is going to come and rescue you and it’s highly unlikely you are going to win the lottery.

What makes us feel alive and full of authenticity is connection and caring, contribution, enrichment and expansion. This is when you will experience deep and lasting fulfilment.

9. Productivity Habits MATTER

Productivity matters because I know there’s a lot you want to achieve in life and every day you don’t is a day you stand still. 

Make sure you’re setting a great example; be a visible role model.  No only will your team and your family be connected and inspired by you, but a high level of accountability will also keep you on track.

Set yourself ambitious goals and regularly revisit them.  Goals that seem beyond your current ability makes you feel alive, gets you out of your comfort zone and will push your knowledge base.

Build habits that trigger you to constantly think about how you could be doing things better and question yourself.  This my friend is the foundation of a growth mindset. A growth mindset is the difference between average and progress.  Even small amounts of progress is meaningful. Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts…

10. Knowing Matters

The power resides not just in receiving and perceiving the signals and noise in new ways; the real power is in knowing, in listening to your own sound above it all, to the hopes and the dreams and the fire up your soul. 

Tune in. Listen to the voice that guides you, that pushes you when the times are tough, the one that amplifies your magnitude and makes you feel fabulous. Tap into your wisdom the fire in your belly and that burning desire to create something magical in the world.

These things I learned and re-learned this year.  It has been an incredible year for me and one I am so grateful to have experienced.

Do you sometimes feel like a fox in a box trying to escape.

How to deal with your COVID emotion

Can this be true?  Is there some light at the end of the COVID tunnel?  This is the perfect time to reflect on the effect that this pandemic has had on our emotions.  Not only has it caused us anxiety and stress, it has also generated anger. 

Anger is a natural emotion when you are feeling threatened.  You’re like a fox in a box that is trying to escape, particularly when you’re not feeling like you are in the captain's seat and feeling like your accepting unwanted changes.  The problem with anger is that it can snowball.  It takes on a life of its own and it generates its own energy. It can all too easily spiral out of control.   But what is the best thing to do with all that anger.  There are lots of studies that show a real impact on cardiovascular function due to the effects of anger. 

So, what’s the best way to handle anger?

  • Recognise when your emotions start heating up. Most people repress anger because they’re not aware of how they’re feeling.

  • Say it out loud why you are angry. Do it slowly and in soft tones. Getting outwardly aggressive and angry increases your heart rate and blood pressure much more than people that speak slowly and softly.

  • Make a list of everything you might do to deal with the problem that is triggering your anger. Rank the solutions in order of priority.

  • If you’re angry a lot, make sure you make rest your number one prerogative. This will help you regulate the rollercoaster of emotions.

  • Ask yourself, “what could I be grateful for?” This is the question that has the power to change our lives. Why? Because you cannot be angry and grateful at the same time. Gratitude is the antidote. When gratitude appears anger disappears.

Lockdown Changed It All ✨

Is anyone else in Lockdown feeling overwhelmingly grateful?  Today (Sunday as I write this) I’ve look at my little tribe and I can’t help but breath it in.  Sometimes I can’t quite believe where we’ve got to. My gorgeous husband and I built two little people.  They’re a very good reason to take a day off, slow down and appreciate it all. 

Usually we would be racing around with a packed diary of stuff.  Lockdown changed it all.

I’m breathing in every second of being at home and carving out extra time to be still with my people …and not feeling guilty about it.  For me personally it’s an incredible place to be and today I am so grateful to have this time.

BUT after saying all that, I have to confess I’ve found Lockdown really quite challenging.  Can you relate? 

I’ve been working way too much, feeling a lot of pressure, empathetic to the anxiety of lots of people in my team and missing friends and family.  Lockdown has prompted lots of simultaneous changes both personally and professionally for us all.  It’s sometimes felt like a rollercoaster.

Harness The Power Of Uncertainty

What do we need to be focusing on during times of uncertainty?


Hello my lovelies,

Like so many other people right now I do not assume that my week will unfold the way I would usually expect.  We recently received an email from Chloë’s school week that one of her teachers unfortunately had contracted COVID so had to self-isolating.  We chose to get tested and we’re thankfully negative.

There were two ways to deal with this situation.  Get super annoyed that we’re unable to go on holiday that we feel like we desperately needed, OR be grateful that we’re in a fortunate position to be able to book a holiday.  I chose the second option.  

In context everything that is going on in the world right now, all the suffering, hardship and pain created by the coronavirus, this uncertainty is certainly a small matter of concern.  

But, it got me thinking.  What do we need to be focusing on during times of uncertainty?

  1. Do not over consume yourself with planning and upcoming events - you don’t know how things will unfold

  2. Focus on all the reasons to be grateful. I have my health, an incredible little family, the worlds beautiful places aren’t going anywhere and you can find good in almost everything that happens

  3. Get into the moment and try exploring new ways to finding fun, enjoyment and fulfilment in the simple things in life …I’ve adopted this approach and I’m discovering simple ways of having fun and so far I’m loving it!

  4. Keep reminding yourself to keep perspective. In comparison to what so many people are experiencing yours is probably small fry!

  5. Some of our greatest achievements come from times of stress. Being under pressure can make you more focused, a better problem-solver, and a braver risk-taker. Make stress your friend.

For most of us, stress is part daily life.   Right now most of us are experiencing much higher levels of stress than we would usually encounter.  This pandemic is not making life any easier. 

But you can take charge of how you think and feel about stress using it to be your powerhouse to generate just about anything.  

“There was a study that tracked about 30,000 adults for almost a decade in the U.S. At the beginning of the study, they asked people first, ‘How stressful is your life? And then also, ‘Do you believe that your stress … is bad for your health?’… And what they found is that for the subset of people who had very stressful [lives] and most strongly believed that their stress was harmful, they had a 43% increased risk of dying from any cause over the next decade. But the people who had the most stressful lives and did not strongly believe that stress was bad for them, they were the most likely to be alive at the end of the decade. … This study caught my attention because first of all, it suggests that stress is not always the enemy.” – Kelly McGonigal 

When you change your mind about how you feel about stress you can change your response.  

So why not get better at managing your stress?  

Stress is your body’s way of getting you to respond the challenge ahead.  It’s not the enemy.  When you look at stressful situations through a different lens, your body believes you and your stress response becomes healthier.  How you think and how you act can transform your experience of stress.  

You can choose to experience your stress response as helpful you create the biology of courage. You can essentially train your brain to response in a helpful way to support you through the stressful scenario.  It’s called personal development and it’s massively empowering.

Ask yourself, how should I response to this situation? Believe in yourself that you competently manage the situation and you’ll feel yourself start to relax.  One you find your rhythm you will find that you feel more confident and enthusiastic even in stressful situations.  This in turn will help you connect with people and help you perform on a whole new level.

Did you know there are 87 days remaining until the end of this year.  I know that you’ve got some big visions that you want to complete and there’s still time.

Still time to make those big changes.  We’re going to make things happen!  Let’s get the fire in our bellies and get it done.

Whilst everyone else is getting sucked into the latest COVID restriction drama and getting worried about things they cannot control, we’re going remain focused.  We’re going to pivot to ensure we nail our big goals.

Together we're going to make big changes. We're going to make things better.  And we’re going to double up on bringing good into this world. 

If that means being a great Mum, do it even better, with greater intention and goodness.

If that means you’re committed to living your best life so you can be an inspiration to others, hone in those habits.

If that means selling more products that help people live a good life, do more with greater excellence.

If that means you volunteer, mentor others, put out positive content... double up.

Why?

Because you feel it too...

The world feels off kilter.

There's so much negativity sapping our mojo and vibrancy right now.

There's too much heaviness, avoiding, lying, pessimism, stress, prejudice, hatred, loneliness, sadness, apathy.

But that stuff is confronted when we each SHOW UP each day with a deep intention to do good, to be good leaders, to put our best selves forward, to bring our A game for others.

Personally, I've been strengthening my commitment in my own ways -- trying to help this community stick to their goals even better, and achieve more even faster.

I've been committed these last few months to create more tools and community for you...

Why creating real confidence is SO important

Hello Gorgeous,

It’s Sunday and I’m feeling very reflective.  September has been full of fun and challenges.  It would be so easy to focus on all the demanding aspects of the month… there have been many! But I made a decision not to.  There’s so much to be grateful for.

Chloë’s loving being back at school, she’s thriving and I’ve seen her confidence sky rocket this month🚀 We’re finally finishing an aspect of our apartment renovation that has been on hold for 3 years and it feels GOOD to be near completion.  And Rupert and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary 

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve spent some time feeling anxious about things, mostly at 03:00 in the morning; making a very unhelpful dint in my energy levels and it really hasn’t helped me.  

What has helped me?  Tackling my worries head on, making an actionable plan and knowing where I’m heading has led me back to a full nights sleep and my confidence has returned, pwee! Confidence is the cornerstone for enjoying your life.., wow now that’s quite a statement.

So, why do I think confidence is SO important? 

I think Katy Perry sums it up quite nicely; with confidence you can pull off just about anything!

The good news is that you don’t need to have a degree from Oxford or Harvard, and you don’t need a great degree of sophistication either to create real confidence. Learning how to create real confidence will change your life.

What is confidence? 

  • Confidence is your assurance.  A firm believe, trust, reliance, the belief in your own abilities. 

  • Confidence is your inner conviction about the outcome any given situation.  Your conviction that you have the ability to deliver and perform a given situation.

  • Confidence is trust or faith in a person or thing.  When you have a trusting relationship, you have confidence in it.

  • Confidence is the settled piece of certainty in your soul.  Knowledge that you can achieve your goals.  The inner sense that all is right and well in the world.

  • Confidence is fearless, boldness and courage.  It’s the stuff that leads you to stand up for yourself even under adversity. You’ll never take a firm stance on anything without confidence.

So, why wouldn’t you want to build real confidence?  

This such important stuff and that’s why we’ve dedicated we’ve focused a whole month at The Enterprise Vault to confidence.  It’s the linchpin to almost every skill in your armoury.

How Do You Create Real Confidence?

We often confuse confidence as something you're simply born with.  And whilst there is proof that there's a link between your DNA and your confidence, it's not the whole picture.  Confidence is an acquired skill.   

And why do I think confidence is SO important? I think Katy Perry sums it up quite nicely;   with confidence you can pull off just about anything!

Set Yourself Up To Succeed

You can switch these feelings and anchor the nervous, so you don’t freak out!  All you need to do is reframe these feelings to send a signal to your brain that you are excited.  This will help you focus on what you need to do. 

 
This is really powerful stuff for sales, public speaking, presentations.  Tell your brain that you are excited.  Say it out loud… I’m so excited … I’m so excited.  You’re reframing.   Your brain with reposition these thoughts and feelings from anxiety to excitement, leaving you to focus on your performance.


You’ll miss out on so much if you let fear run your life, let’s break the habit of worry and self-doubt and focus on achieving more in your life.

3 Dangerous Confidence Thieves

Confidence takes practice.  It sounds strange doesn’t it?  It’s call the confidence-competency loop.  The more you practice the more your confidence grows, and the more this will shine through into the exterior world.

Picasso is one of the most famous and successful artist.  Did you know that throughout his career, he created more than 20,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures, and ceramics? Despite the staggering number of pieces he created and his incredible talent he only has a handful of famous paintings.

 there are also a number of other things that can steal your confidence.

1. Impatience  

Perhaps the biggest thing that is holding you back right now is your impatience.  How many things have you given up because you weren’t seeing the result you immediately expected?  In our society today we want immediate gratification and we all love our instant downloads and our Amazon Prime accounts but its unrealistic to think that you will achieve overnight success. 

I know.  This is super hard to digest when it seems like every advertisement you see is about how to make thousands of dollars in 5 minutes! Apologies to repeat this, but overnight success is extremely rare.

2. Fear

The fear of putting yourself out there into the big wide world can be so big you feel like your only option is to put the brakes on your project.  The trick is to move away from the hypercritical state of self-doubt and push your project forwards.  Past failures do not dictate your future, they create your future.  

So have the courage to take action despite the uncertainty.  

3. Helplessness

Are you are feeling insecure and have low self worth?  Ouch, I know this one well and boy oh boy does it hurt. 

My self worth used to be so low, I used to let people walk all over me!  And you know that you are in this way of thinking when you are leaning on excuses like “nothing ever goes my way” so I’m going to give up trying.  

You can break this pattern of behaviour by laughing at yourself a little.  Don’t take it so seriously. 

Shuffle the cards and find that something that brings in the energy.  Focus on the aspects of your life, business or career that energies you… then start collecting the success stories.

You are capable of remarkable things and you could never foretell and you will never discover without taking action.

How To Build Real Confidence

Hi Gorgeous,

I hope you've had a brilliant weekend and you're full of the joys of spring.. its just around the corner promise!

Today I want to talk to you about confidence.

Confidence is the number one thing that people site as an issue when they’re not succeeding.  A lack of confidence can be crippling.  It will hold you back and stop you from creating the results you've really want.   You know deep down that if you overcome the confidence barrier, it will have a massively positive impact on your life.  And no matter how successful you may be, almost all of us could do with a confidence boost. 


It’s totally normal to lack confidence, feel fear and self-doubt.  I remember the days where I used to dread speaking in public. Although I didn’t know it then, this is a completely normal feeling as I wasn’t competent and I was in the process of learning a skill.  I'd literally feel sick to the point I couldn’t see properly; now I no longer fear public speaking.  In fact last week I moderated a panel, I massively enjoyed it and got a huge buzz! Is that a bit sad?!

Now I grab every opportunity to get myself out there, because I want to continually keep building my skills in this arena.


So what’s changed?  I decided to challenge myself at every single opportunity. And even though I felt the fear when asking for a speaking gig, I did it anyway. 


I made a decision a while ago that I am going to be a phenomenal speaker.  I knew that unless I pushed through those barriers of fear I wouldn’t get any better and I would continue to be crippled with self-doubt.  This simple philosophy is called the competency-confidence loop.  As you become more skilled at a task, your fear shrinks and your confidence grows. 

Sorry to be controversial, but I don’t believe in the fake it until you make it B.S (I know it's literally EVERYWHERE on the internet).   To me real confidence grows from action.  And let’s not sugar coat this, it's real confidence that’s going to make you successful.  Faking it won’t make you feel confident it will hyper exaggerate your imposter syndrome!   


I want you to grow the type of confidence that oozes complete and utter authenticity; the real you.  The type of confidence that you don’t have to think about. You just are, confident.

When you get to the point of thinking, acting and behaving as the real you, there are no voices in your head telling you that you are “completely rubbish at this”.  You're enjoying the process and you’re feeling the unstoppable confidence you’ve been craving.

So make a decision TODAY to stop thinking and start acting. Just decide that you are going to start believing in yourself and get going.  Decide to be confident.  Decide to give it a go!  You’ve got nothing to loose and everything to gain, because real confidence will take you to the next level (…and the one after that …and the one after that!).
