Leap Into Success: Conquering Your Fears and Building a Thriving Business
What's scarier—starting your own business or abseiling down a 17-floor hospital in London? In this post, I share my thrilling experience and how it mirrors the fears and triumphs of entrepreneurship. If you're ready to conquer your fears and take your business to new heights, this is a must-read. Plus, learn how you can support the amazing work of the London Air Ambulance Charity.
What’s more terrifying? Starting your own business or abseiling down The Royal London Hospital, 17 floors up, with nothing but the East London skyline in front of you? 🚁😳
Let me tell you, it’s a close call.
Here’s the backstory: My incredible team thought it would be a brilliant idea to do something that captures all the fear and adrenaline of launching a business while raising money for an important cause. And, in true entrepreneurial fashion, I said yes without fully thinking it through (classic, right?). Fast forward to me, hundreds of feet above London, feeling like I might have a full-on panic attack. Honestly, the experience wasn’t all that different from starting a business. 😂
For those who know me, you know I’m all about adrenaline-packed adventures. But the moment I stood atop that building, I was seriously questioning my life choices and wishing I could shout, “Go back!” Yet, somewhere between gripping my friend’s hand with all my might and rocking my cash cow poncho, I found the courage to take that leap and abseil down that insanely high building.
What’s the lesson here? It’s simple: face the fear, over and over again. Even eight years after launching my business, the fear is still there. When I first put myself out there and declared I was ready, I was shaking in my boots! BUT I did it anyway.
And that’s what being an entrepreneur is all about. It’s about taking that leap, even when every fiber of your being is screaming at you to turn back. It’s about embracing the fear, pushing through the panic, and coming out on the other side with something extraordinary.
So, be brave. Do the thing that scares you. Because just like abseiling down a terrifying building in London, launching your business could be the ride of a lifetime.
And speaking of conquering fear, let me tell you about something truly incredible happening right here in London. The London Air Ambulance Charity is on the lookout for fearless fundraisers who are ready to take on a challenge that’s as thrilling as it is impactful.
Since 1989, London’s Air Ambulance has been providing life-saving care to over 48,000 people, ensuring that when London calls, they’re there. From road traffic incidents to falls from heights, and major crises like the Grenfell Tower fire, they’ve been at the forefront, bringing the hospital to the roadside when every second counts.
But they need our help to keep going. That’s why they’re inviting people to launch themselves from the highest rooftop helipad in Europe. Yes, you read that right—an abseil from the roof of The Royal London Hospital, 17 floors up, with nothing but the East London skyline in front of you. Please be kind click the link, dig deep and donate.
It’s the ultimate test of courage and the perfect way to give back while pushing yourself to new heights—literally.
So, here’s the deal: Whether it’s starting a business, facing your fears, or stepping off a rooftop for a good cause, the message is the same. Be bold. Take the leap. Do the thing that scares you. Because on the other side of that fear? That’s where the magic happens.
Let’s make it happen together. Whether in business or life, the time to act is now. And trust me, it’s going to be one hell of a ride.
