Why 'SMART Goals' Won't Get You There: Discover the BRIGHT Framework for Building Wealth on Purpose

Hey Gorgeous,

Once, someone told me my goals were "too big" and "unrealistic." Yep, you read that right! He said (let's call him Bob) that I was “blinded by optimism.” In corporate, I was bound to the infamous "SMART Goals"—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-Bound. Every year, we’d endure the ritual of setting objectives that inspired little more than a polite yawn. Why? Because SMART goals kept us playing it safe, prioritising the "achievable" over the inspiring.

But don’t worry—this story has a twist.

When I broke free from corporate and launched my own business, I knew it was time to rewrite the rulebook. That’s when BRIGHT Goals were born. These goals are Bold, Reachable, Inspiring, Genuine, Heartfelt, Transformative. I set a vision that, in three years, Wealth BE-ing® would become the #1 global brand for entrepreneurs who want to build purpose-driven businesses, creating wealth by doing what they love.

Bob and his buddies called it "unrealistic," but here’s the fun part: I set out to prove them completely wrong.

Now, here’s my BRIGHT goal: I want to teach one billion people how to make a living doing what they love—without losing their soul. Yes, it’s ambitious. But this mission? It’s what gets me out of bed every day.

Here’s why I believe big, audacious goals are the secret sauce for any thriving business:

👉 They give you crystal-clear direction and help you make better, faster decisions.

👉 They stretch your problem-solving muscles, especially around scaling challenges.

👉 They keep you out of ruts because you know there’s no "peak"—just new heights.

👉 They make you bolder—when your goal excites you, you’re fearless in the face of risks.

And here’s the key: your big goal doesn’t have to be world domination, but it should be exciting. If it doesn’t fire you up, then think bigger.

If you’re feeling stuck on this, let’s start simple:

  1. In 5 years, how much do you want your business to be paying you (as a salary)?

  2. What does your ideal workload look like at that salary?

  3. What structure or offerings will your business need to make that vision a reality?

P.S. Next time you meet an entrepreneur with fire in their belly, encourage them (and don’t be a Bob). At Wealth BE-ing®, we’re about more than revenue. We’re building purpose-driven wealth that fuels life. Our mission, One Billion Dreams, is all about empowering people to create wealth through work that matters. We’re redefining wealth as a journey rooted in purpose, transformation, and impact, guiding each person toward financial freedom that aligns with their values.

Together, let’s build a new era of wealth—one dream at a time.
